Endorse: RIFA’s fight to end hunger
15th Annual Canstruction

Cost: $100 for individuals; $750 for table of eight

RIFA’s Canstruction is one of the funnest and most unique fundraisers in our community, and this fall it’s celebrating its fifteenth year. Enjoy a hilarious night with comedian Chonda Pierce and get a chance to show off your business’ architectural skills by building a masterpiece out of canned goods. Game on!

Explore: Your kid’s best ideas
Children’s Business Expo

Date: Saturday, September 21
Time: 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
Location: Jackson Fairgrounds (800 South Highland Avenue)

Ever heard a crazy idea from your little one and thought, “Hey…that might actually work!” Well, the Children’s Business Expo is the perfect event for them to explore their creativity. For $50, five- to seventeen-year-olds get a booth to sell their original product or service, and make sure to check their website to get an example of last year’s presenters.

30th Annual African Street Festival

Originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Katie Howerton moved to Jackson in 2011 to study Graphic Design and Drawing at Union University. She discovered Our Jackson Home in January 2015 and used it as a guinea pig for her senior design project, creating the first issue of Our Jackson Home: The Magazine. After graduating she was given leadership over Our Jackson Home at theCO, where she now runs the blog, designs the magazine, and coordinates events. She lives with her husband Jordan and daughter November in Midtown and loves her community at City Fellowship Baptist Church.
