Five Questions with LOLO

Five Questions with LOLO

Bo Kitzman

Instead of exploring the seemingly rich platitudes that most mediocre artists tend to in their formative years, West Tennessee’s Lauren Pritchard has taken another route. Pritchard, who now goes by her stage name LOLO, is a performing veteran with an impressive credits list ranging from Broadway to Jay Leno. LOLO is now signed to DCD2, a label started by Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz. Check out LOLO’s new cover with DCD2 artist MAX here:

What inspires you most to make music? The freedom of creativity and knowing that I can make any kind of music that I want. Whether it’s just for my ears or to share with others, the possibilities are endless.

What’s the most memorable experience you've had in your career so far? I've been really fortunate to have a lot of special moments in my life. One moment that’s always stuck out to me was getting to perform alongside Annie Lennox. We’re both patrons of this charity organization in the U.K. called Body & Soul and we performed at their annual benefit in 2010. She’s one of the greatest female voices of all time and a hero of mine. I was fan-girling like crazy that day.

Who did you look up to most as an aspiring musician? I could make a long list of inspirations. Some of them are Billy Joel, Eminem, Linda Perry, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holliday, Dave Grohl. I could keep going. . . .

Out of all the song you’ve written, which one matters the most? Truthfully, they all mean something to me so they all matter to me. Is that cheesy? I don’t really care!

What’s your favorite Otis Redding song? It’s a toss up between “Hard To Handle” and “Try A Little Tenderness.” Both are amazing and both make me dance like crazy.
