Overview:
Our Jackson Home, in partnership with the City of Jackson, is seeking qualifications from artists or artist teams based in West Tennessee to design and create a mural with complimenting banners for the Ned Cultural Arts Center in the Arts District of Jackson, Tennessee. The Ned building combines two distinct structures: the original Jackson City Hall, known for its historic architecture, and a contemporary addition that houses a spacious theatre and art gallery. The mural and banners will be located on the contemporary left side of the building.
The artist(s) chosen for this project will design and paint a 15' x 15' mural on prepared aluminum panels, as well as create four complimenting 3’ x 14’ designs to be printed on vinyl banners, creating a cohesive public art installation that will be prominently displayed on the front of the building.
Three finalists will be chosen by the project’s Selection Committee and will each receive a $300 honorarium for a design proposal for the mural and banner designs. Each finalist will be interviewed by the Selection Committee to review their designs. The Selection Committee will provide their recommendations to the City of Jackson’s Public Art Commission, who will vote to approve the final artist design based on the committee’s review and recommendations.
