Temporary sidewalk art

Location: The Carnegie Center for Arts and History - 305 E. College St.

Budget: $6,500 for chosen artist or artist team

Deadline to Apply: March 6th, 2026, by 11:59 p.m.

Artist Eligibility: Individual artists or artist teams based in West Tennessee

Overview: Our Jackson Home, in partnership with the City of Jackson, is requesting qualifications from artists or artist teams interested in designing and leading installation of a temporary sidewalk art mural in Downtown Jackson’s Arts District on the left front side of the Carnegie Center for Arts and History. 

The chosen artist will be selected by City of Jackson Public Art Commission members and community volunteers. The artist will install the new sidewalk art with the assistance of student volunteers. The mural should be simple and add vibrant and complimentary color to the surrounding area.

Goals of the Project:

  • Beautification

  • Encourage Walkability

  • Community Engagement

  • Support Local Talent

  • Strengthen Jackson’s Identity

Eligibility:
Any professional artist or artist team over the age of 18 who lives in West Tennessee is welcome to apply.


Temporary Murals in Jackson, Tennessee

Location: Alleyway between Liberty St. and Church St.

Budget: $1,200 each for 2 chosen artists

Deadline to Apply: March 6th, 2026, by 11:59 p.m.

Artist Eligibility: Artists based in West Tennessee

Overview:

Our Jackson Home, in partnership with the City of Jackson, is seeking 2 qualified local artists to paint temporary murals during the University of Tennessee Ag Center’s Annual Plant Sale, May 1 - 2. The murals will be displayed in Downtown Jackson’s Arts District for one calendar year after the event. The chosen artists will design and paint murals that are a visual celebration of native West Tennessee plant life, but remain timeless and appropriate for year-round display downtown.

Artist in Residence

The purpose of Our Jackson Home’s Artist in Residence program was to provide these artists and storytellers with opportunities to practice their craft and improve our community, connecting them to funding, resources, and a platform to create their work right here in Jackson, Tennessee.

Our Jackson Home desires to tell the stories of our community, and one way that has been done is through films. We have created several featured films over the years by local videographers. These films range from documentary to a film version of Porchfest.
