editor's note

Here at theCO, we often find ourselves making fun of our own overused buzzwords—you know, innovation, synergy, collaboration. They're the kinds of words you read on businesses' "About" pages that are essential in any successful organization but have lost their meaning over time.

Collaboration is probably the one we use most, and while I still giggle a little every time I emphasize the co- prefix, collaboration has proven itself to be community-changing over and over again during my time at theCO. Whether it's designing a product, organizing 731Day, or creating the journal you hold in your hands, everything Our Jackson Home and theCO do is done better together.

Coming off the heels of our second incredible success of Porchfest, that together-ness is ringing extra true in my life today. As a natural control freak, choosing partnership in a project is always a challenge, but it has never failed to surprise me what a life-saver it is, and it’s my prayer that just a little bit of the talent, kindness, and overall wonder of the amazing individuals I work with every day will rub off on me. . . . Read more in the journal.
