Our Jackson Table: Spring 2016 Recap

Katie Howerton

We've had a blast getting a taste of some of Jackson's finest restaurants, new and old, during our first season of Our Jackson Table! Check out these first thirteen stops we've made throughout the spring, then join us for even more local cuisine this summer.

Asia Garden

581 Old Hickory Boulevard | 731.668.9024 | $$$

Asia Garden is the perfect pick for all things Eastern. Whether it's their super affordable Japanese and Chinese lunch specials or their more glamorous sushi menu, there's no wondering why they were awarded best Chinese and Japanese food by The Jackson Sun Readers' Choice Awards in 2015.

The Baker's Rack

205 East Lafayette Street | 731.424.6163 | $$

The Baker's Rack is a downtown classic serving up Southern classics and the best baked goods you can find in Jackson. The casual and quaint café environment mirrors the simple but flavorful breakfast and lunch options.

El Primo Express

Food Truck (1831 US-45 Bypass) | 901.220.3010 | $

Pick up all eight varieties of El Primo Express's $1.25 tacos as you pass by the BP on the corner of Old Hickory and the Bypass. You can also choose from other Mexican classics like quesadillas, burritos, and Carne Asada. (The salsa's spicy, though, so proceed with caution!)

La Cubanita

Food Truck (91 New Market Street) | 731.499.7056 | $

La Cubanita's empanadas have become a Jackson staple over the last few years. Choose between a few different varieties (including vegetarian) on Saturdays at the West Tennessee Farmers' Market, or call them to cater your next event and try their other Cuban classics.

ComeUnity Café

Brooksie's Barn

561 Oil Well Road | 731.664.2276 | $$

Brooksie's Barn is nestled back in a quiet, wooded corner of Oil Well Road, its large windows facing a quaint pond to make your Southern dining experience all the better. Make sure to enjoy a few relaxing moments on their rocking chair-filled porch and to snag a photo of their giant mounted moose!

El Mariachi Tacos

Looks like there's two taco trucks in town! El Mariachi offers a small menu of tacos, quesadillas, and tortas, only $1.50 per taco and $6 for the other options. Enjoy trying on their sequin-covered sombrero and chatting it up with the cooks during your short wait, and, if your brave, try the extra spicy red salsa.
